I would be glad to help on this one, what size / frequency are you aiming at ? I got a couple of venue in mind that could host such things |
Thanks @gorhgorh! I think we should start small. It would be great if there are 20 people at the first meetings and if we can have one every two months. |
@chriscool are you on IRC ? maybe we can meet there and talk about it ? current venue I can have that would fit imo is "le fablab de la Villette", I'm runing multiple workshop there regulary and since they host crypto parties and Ubuntu parties there IPFS is a good match, I could ask for moz office too but it is too big for what you have in mind Imo (I'm gorhgorh or gorhDroid on #ipfs chan) |
Despite my ridiculously French name, I'm actually living in the San C'est un peu loin à marcher ;) On Mon, Oct 12, 2015 at 5:43 AM, gorhgorh notifications@github.com wrote:

I'd love to come, but unfortunately I don't often come to Paris, I live in the country south from Lyon. I perhaps could come at a time, if I find time and the right train, but not so frequently. |
@gorhgorh yeah I am often on the IPFS IRC channel after 9PM Paris time. |
@gorhgorh we should perhaps discuss that again soon? |
I'm moving to Paris next week 😄 |
For those who want to meet, maybe you can come to this git meetup on December 10 next week where I will give a talk that mention IPFS: |
Any plans for this to happen again? I was severely jetlagged last time. Maybe we could time it to coincide with the release of 0.4.0? |
@ansuz, me and @whyrusleeping are coming to Paris by train from Copenhagen sometime in January! Hi @gorhgorh :D |
@diasdavid, any idea when you are coming to Paris? I might be able to come if I don't have anything else. Or I'll wait till next time. |
@daviddias and @whyrusleeping are coming tomorrow to Paris. They are staying there for three days. Maybe we can organize something? |
That's going to be a little short for this time, I won't be available this week-end, and I live south on Lyon. But keep me informed for next time. |
Sad that we won't get a chance to meet this time @mildred. We might visit more times during the year though :) |
@diasdavid @whyrusleeping When are you in Copenhagen? We could schedule a Meetup there for you if you're interested. And it'd be good to see you guys again :) |
@diasdavid @whyrusleeping Oh shit, just looked at the date. Never mind :( |
@NeoTeo Maybe we will just have to plan another visit to copenhagen :) |
@whyrusleeping TBH that is the best solution :) |
Please don't put job postings in random threads on Github @docteurcheese, I've deleted your comment since this thread is about IPFS meetups in Paris. |
If anyone interested in leading a Paris IPFS meetup, please check #283 |
👋 Manfred, from @berty here, just a word to tell you that we will start a new meetup soon: Paris P2P (https://p2p.paris) Paris is a city with a lot of good cryptographers, blockchain experts, and P2P developers; however, IPFS is not so much famous yet; and... we plan to fix this ;) The Berty team plans to organize talks about IPFS during the first events, and depending on the skill, why not a ProtoSchool session too! If you come to Paris, we should soon be able to propose impromptu beer events with P2P interested folks, so do not hesitate to ping us :) What do you think about sending us some SWAG and stickers so we can decorate our events too? Edit: we also have a form so people can propose talks: http://crpt.fyi/parisp2p-cfp |
Absolutely @moul! Happy to ship some stickers and tshirts you're way. Will start a thread to get the details. |
We will maintain:
The current organizers are:we will try to make the community as P2P with as few leadership as possible First meetup in 3 weeks: Wednesday, 7 Aug |
If you are living around Paris, France, or if you are sometimes going there, and if you are interested in organizing an IPFS Paris Meetup group, please comment on this issue or contact me.
For your information I already co-organize the git Paris Meetup group:
http://www.meetup.com/fr/git-Paris/
I started it a few weeks ago with some people who are also organizing the very successful Docker Paris Meetups and other Meetups.
