Sencha Reactor Demo App

Note: this project was created to provide an example project prior to release of the ExtReact product. Unless you are working with a pre-release version of the ExtJS Reactor, you should probably not use this project.

This project expands on a simple demo app originally hosted at https://github.com/prabirshrestha/hn-react.

This project updated the build toolchain to use webpack with babel, and added Ext JS components to improve the user experience. It is intended to provide a simple example of how Ext JS can be integrated into a React app. It is not intended to show best practices for either React or Ext JS apps.

To get started, first make sure you have a recent version of Sencha Command, node and npm installed. Extract or clone the repo and copy Ext JS (with the premium packages) into <project_dir>/ext. Then:

cd <project_dir>
npm install

At this point, you should have all the necessary packages to start the development server with npm start. The website will run on http://localhost:8080.

Interesting tags

There are a few tags that represent interesting points in the project timeline:

  • v1.0
    • The original project, updated to use webpack and such. No Ext JS yet.
  • v1.1
    • First step in adoption of Ext JS components. Feed presented in a single-column grid of hyperlinks.
  • v1.2
    • Trivial change to add a column (score) to the grid.
  • v2.0
    • Addition of TabPanel and D3 Heatmap

Each of these checkpoints are runnable, if you checkout the appropriate tag. Feel free to diff between tags to understand code changes to implement specific functionality.
