  • Not so much a website but the Spring One Platform tech conference swag policy is an amazing example of a sustainable approach to this historically unsustainable topic

Finance & investing

  • Tomorrow offer digital bank accounts where your money and fees are invested only in sustainable projects
  • Australian ethical investment company U Ethical invest in projects with positive impacts and exclude those that have negative effects on society or the environment
  • Responsible Returns aggregates ethical / responsible / sustainable finance products for the Australian market
  • A small list of socially responsible investment funds.

Food, farming & agriculture

  • The EAT-Lancet Commission on Food, Planet, Health brought together 37 world-leading scientists from across the globe to answer this question: Can we feed a future population of 10 billion people a healthy diet within planetary boundaries?
  • The Meatrix is a film from 2003 offering information on the issues surrounding factory farming, as well as alternatives to conventionally-raised meat, poultry, dairy, and eggs
  • Meat Atlas sheds light on the impacts of meat and dairy production, and aims to catalyse the debate over the need for better, safer and more sustainable food and farming
  • The Agriculture Atlas shows how closely Europe's agriculture is intertwined with our lives and our living spaces. It also reveals how little of the funding of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is fir for purpose

  • The Sustainable Web Manifesto declares your commitment to create a greener web
  • Website carbon calculator lets you calculate the carbon footprint of a website
  • surfgreen.dev provides a website sustainability test. Seems a bit sales-y but interesting none-the-less
  • Sustainable Web Design makes a number of suggestions when it comes to building a more sustainable website or app
  • Ecograder is another website sustainability calculator. Also pretty light on, may be developed more in future

Jobs

  • climate.careers lists high-impact, high-paying jobs to solve the climate crisis
  • Blog post on finding a job in tech which can help combat climate change
  • Data Science for Social Good are Berlin based and help NGOs to make use of their data by connecting them with volunteer data scientists and analysts
  • Reconsidered Jobs aggregate jobs in social impact, sustainability and corporate social responsibility
  • tbd is a digital hub where people determined to change the world can find a job, discover workshops and courses, locate funding, hire the right team, connect with mission-driven companies, share best practices, or learn from others who are using their careers to make an impact

Learning

  • FabAcademy is a fast paced, hands-on learning experience where students plan and execute a new project each week
  • Environmental Humanities Initiative is composed of faculty and students from across the arts and humanities who focus on a range of environmental issues

Offsetting

  • Excellent tongue in cheek website illustrating the flaws in offsetting from Climate Neutral
  • Difficult to tell if ClimateFutures are in it to help or just make a buck. 1Planet Blockchain sounds very suspicious...
  • Target2030 is a charitable foundation focusing on tree planting and sustainability advocacy
  • Choose offer offsetting subscriptions for individuals and businesses
  • Trump Forest unfortunately now inactive but was a tree planting project aimed to combat (and probably annoy) the environmental policies of Trump. Here are two articles describing the project.
  • Eden Reforestation Projects reduces extreme poverty and restores healthy forests by employing local villagers to plant millions of trees every year
  • GoClimateNeutral offer offsetting in projects in developing countries
  • Nori is the world’s only carbon dioxide removal marketplace. Essentially a 2-sided marketplace enabling carbon removal suppliers to connect directly with buyers, improving efficiency and reducing costs

  • Climate Adaption Knowledge Exchange compiles the world’s largest and most used source of climate adaptation case studies and resources

Travel

  • Stay Grounded is a global network of more than 150 member organisations, among them local airport opposition and climate justice groups, NGOs, trade unions, initiatives fostering alternatives to aviation like night trains, and organisations supporting communities which struggle against offset projects or biofuel plantations
  • Am Boden Bleiben the German version of Stay Grounded
  • vojo is a travel planning platform for climate conscious travellers
