Quick Start
Welcome to the Quick Start guide of PatchMyPath. Here you will learn how to configure and use the basic features of the application.
Please note that PatchMyPath only supports the following games and versions:
- RDR2: All Versions from Steam, Epic Games Launcher and Rockstar Games Launcher
- GTA V: All Versions from Steam, Epic Games Launcher and Rockstar Games Launcher
- GTA IV: All Versions from Steam and Rockstar Games Launcher
- GTA San Andreas: Retail 1.0 US or EU
The first thing that you need to do to use PatchMyPath is to configure the original location of the game(s).
Start by finding the current install location of your game copy. This changes depending on the game launcher that you used to download the game:
- Steam: Right click the game in your Library and select Properties, then select Local Files > Browse...
- Rockstar Games Launcher: Go to Settings, select the game and then click Open on View installation folder
- Retail GTA SA/IV/V: Right click the game's shortcut from the start menu or desktop and select Open file location
Then copy the path from the address bar by right clicking it and selecting Copy address as text.
Now go back to PatchMyPath and click the Cog Wheel to open the Settings (last icon on the top). Then, select the tab for the game that you want to configure, paste the address that you copied on the Location field and click Save. If you get a message saying "Looks like this is the original game folder. Do you want to rename it?", select Yes.
Now, you need to select the launcher that will be used to launch the individual games. On the Configuration window, select the tab of a game and on the Launcher section change the launcher for the specific game and press Save.
The Duplicator Tool allows you to create links between your Clean game copy and your Modded game copy, so you don't end up wasting any storage space in rehusing the same game files.
It is easy to use the duplicator tool:
- Select the Duplicator Tool tab
- On Game, select the game that you want to duplicate
- On Origin, select the original and clean game location that you want to duplicate
- On Destination, select the destination directory for the new game copy
- Make sure that Add install to PatchMyPath after completing the process is enabled
- Click Duplicate Game Folder
Done! Is that easy.
You can add more game copies by pressing the Add icon and navigating to the location where your game install is located.
Please note that is recommended to use the Duplicator tool due to the use of links to reduce the storage space that they take (for games like GTA V and RDR2, you can easily save 70+ GB of space).
You can start any install by selecting it on the list and pressing the Play button.
If you want, you can force a specific launcher to be used by selecting the item and then right clicking it to open a menu that will allow you to select any launcher.
If you decide that you want to remove any install from the list, select one of the installs and press the Remove button (X).
Please note that this option will only remove the installs from the list, and not from your storage drive.
