This is a wonderful idea that works in perfect tandem with offline maps apps such as Organic Map or Maps.Me .

However, for some reason, this app cannot detect my current location.

I'd like to suggest to add a textbox so that I can input manually my location instead.

Absolutely. I came here to mention precisely this.
Also using Organic Maps (which imports from AndroidGeo2ArticlesMap just fine) and the only issue is that current location ain't detected neither seems possible to define an arbitrary location manually. Is this possible in some way?
Right now "Show Articles in Map" app is fixed in "Berlin, Germany (52.51,13.35)". Is there some way to modify this location?
Thanks a lot in advance, this is certainly a very interesting idea.

PS: Organic Maps includes Wikipedia data in its offline database (which is the way it works, by the way, I mean, offline), so, maybe the Wikipedia data is already there, and just needs to be pointed at...

Best regards!

I was not aware that OrganicMap and Maps.Me also support kmz files. Thanks for this info.

However, for some reason, this app cannot detect my current location.

This is on purpose to not implement/require gps-sensor access for privacy reasons.

You have to use other apps to get articles near your current location.

I currently use LocationShare for this (implemented here).

See List of Geo-Clients for alternatives i know of.

However i will add an Edit field to the gui where you can manually enter/modify the location

Ohhh ok i understand! Having an edit field would certainly simplify the use of the app for first time users like me, thank you very much!

Any idea when this would be available?

Thanks again, and sorry to bother. 😅
