Since Spring of 2020 the main branch has supported Python 3 and not Python 2. With this current release we now intend Python 3 to become the default pip install
version on PyPI. This behavior has not been extensively tested, and we anticipate that users may encounter issues in the switch from Python 2 to Python 3. Please file an Issue and/or Pull Request to make this code robust on Python 3. We will no longer support the Python 2 version, though the Python 2 versions are still accessible on PyPI. Thank you to @shihyuntang for contributing recent changes incorporated into this release.
