What steps did you take and what happened:
The current Equinix Metal Ubuntu 22.04 config has a misconfigured resolv.conf file, due to a bug in if-updown.

This breaks DNS in pods deployed in kubernetes on Ubuntu 22.04 systems.

Resolution patch (not released, just here’s how to patch it manually): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ifupdown/+bug/1910273

What did you expect to happen:

Anything else you would like to add:

Environment:

  • cluster-api-provider-packet version: v0.6.2
  • Kubernetes version: (use kubectl version): v1.26.3
  • OS (e.g. from /etc/os-release): Ubuntu 22.04
