This is something that we did investigate in the past, but never got to work on it. Your use case is right: adding a small provider is a cost we (as in the core maintainers) shouldn't be paying. I'd love to implement something but I don't think I'll have much capacity. I'll see what I can come up with over the next month or two. If you have a proposal on how to implement a plug in system, feel free to post a more detailed proposal. |

Are there any plans to support custom providers with something like a plug in system? We are currently using a little known DNS provider from Germany (Smart-NIC) that may not be useful for a lot of people.
Would you like to add support for such small providers (I would start coding on this), or should we wait for a plugin system?
