testkube run executes tests very quickly and POD_NAME is empty, which causes failure in the pipeline

Hi team,
I'm using the following code to run the tests in the cluster:
$ POD_NAME=$(kubectl testkube run test test-events --namespace test-apps | grep "kubectl testkube watch" | cut -d ' ' -f 6 | tr -cd '[:print:]' | cut -d '[' -f 1) $ echo "POD NAME = $POD_NAME" POD NAME = $ kubectl testkube watch execution $POD_NAME --namespace test-apps Error: please pass execution name as argument

It seems the kubectl testkube run executes very quickly and the POD_NAME is blank.
Do you know how to workaround the problem since it's causing failure in the pipeline?

Are there any recent changes in testkube run command which may cause the grep format to not work?

Yes, we did some minor changes for run command. But it shouldn't affect your pipeline. Still I suggest to debug and execute it by parts, because even small change can break parsing expression. In gemeral, we plan to add json format for run command

We found that once we change the index from 6 to 5 it run successful with the new version:
POD_NAME=$(kubectl testkube run test test-events --namespace test-apps | grep "kubectl testkube watch" | cut -d ' ' -f **6** | tr -cd '[:print:]' | cut -d '[' -f 1)

What can you suggest us to improve this command and not to use indexes which can break every time you change something in the command?

try to use text labels instead, they we will unlikely change them. but yes, index is not relaible
we also have an issue about it #5336
but no ETD yet, ping @TheBrunoLopes and @jmorante-ks for prioritisation

We found some way to create an execution and pass it to the 'testkube watch' command like this:

export EX_NAME=$(openssl rand -base64 15)
kubectl testkube watch execution $EX_NAME --namespace test-apps

Is it a good way?

in general, yes, you can give a name to the test execution kubectl testkube run test mytest --name mynamedexecution and then use this name for other script commands
