Next to this analysis, I personally have been using several dating apps to get a better idea of the competition and important factors in matching people. The first two I've been using myself for quite some time, For the last two I chose to use applications that people around me have been using most, respectively: Tinder, Bumble, Happn and OkCupid. Below I wrote down a few features that caught my eye.

Tinder

  • gets you most matches since it's the most used platform.
  • is really simple to start off with
  • uses info from e.a. your Facebook account to get a complete profile.

Bumble (personal favorite)

  • lets you filter your results as well on distance and gender as on a few of the most important differences.
  • only lets women start conversations.
  • uses more info to match people than Tinder.
  • Shows the most important personality trades in the first view.
  • Shows some user answered questions in between photos.

Happn

  • matches people on proximity.
  • only matches you to people you've passed somewhere.
  • gives you the ability to change your status and show people you're available for coffee or to go on a run with and things like that.

OkCupid

  • lets you keep adding information to your profile by asking questions, by asking what you'd like the people you'll get matched to to answer and by asking how important certain answers are to you.
  • lets you filter results on a lot of things.
  • shows on how much things you matched in a percentage.
