This issue is most jarring when localizing Mapbox-designed styles into a non-Latin writing system, such as into Arabic, Chinese, or Russian. /cc @jmkiley |

As of #9582,
MGLStyle.localizesLabels
localizes occurrences of{name}
and{name_*}
in Mapbox Streets–sourced layers, but it ignores{abbr}
, which is English-only. When the locale is something other than English, these layers should be set to{name}
or{name_*}
just like any other layer./cc @fabian-guerra @friedbunny
