I just enabled and rebooted and it worked for me.

What does your task schedule look like?

@enricogior looking at my logs, it claims it didn't run but it did start with admin rights. That is odd.

@RRFfm
do you still have this problem?
I see two entries in the Task Scheduler, how many accounts are you using on that machine?
If you are using only one, ty manually delete those two tasks and then open again the PowerToys Settings, restart it as administrator, then turn on/off and on again the "Run at startup" option.

Hi enricogior,
all the best for the new year...
Yes, the problem still exists, even in version 0.29.3.
I have two accounts, one admin account and one user account. I deinstalled and reinstalled powertoys, no change. I also tried your advice with deleting the two autoruns, setting PowerToys in Admin-Mode, restart my computer: I can see only one Autorun for admin account, but no started PowerToys for my user account. ‌When I start the app manually, PowerToys does not start in admin mode :-((. So, move again in admin-mode and "always as admin" and restart my computer. PowerToys does not start. When I start the App manually, it starts in user mode. Again, in admin mode and "always as admin" and "start at windows start". After that, again two autorun tasks are visible and Powertoys does not start in admin mode after restart. So circle is closed, the problem is still there :-(

@RRFfm
thanks for the wishes, likewise.
And thanks for the detailed repro steps, this might be challenging to fix.

Hi Jay,
I just updated to v0.45. "always start as administrator" now works, but I expected another behaviour.

My intention was: define a layout in Fancy Zones for admin, always start PowerToys as admin and use the same layout for all users. But PowerToys didn't start for normal users, only for admins and therefore there is no defined layout. Probably my expectation was wrong.
I found a solution for me: define the same layout for admin and all users. This was some extra work, but was ok...

From my point of view you can close this thread
