My powertoys run is not working did everything but still that alt + tab command isn't working
Things that I tried :

  • Allow always as administrator
  • change default shortcut to a custom one
  • disable and enable the shortcut again
    I tried all these methods but still nothing seems to work !

are you running PowerToys 0.29.3?
Can you please update .NET Core https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-core/thank-you/runtime-desktop-3.1.10-windows-x64-installer

if you open Task Manger and you go the Details tab, do you see both PowerLauncher.exe and PowerToys.exe running?

  • open PowerToys Settings
  • go the PowerToys Run page
  • turn off and then on again Enable PowerToys Run

does PowerLauncher.exe appear in Task Manager?

PowerRun doesn't work directly but when started from the start menu its works but I have to do it every time I start my computer 🖥

just to be sure, did you try turning Enable PowerToys Run off and on and it didn't make any difference?

Yes

I have the same (or very similar) issue.

  • If I launch powertoys from start as a non-administrative user powerluncher.exe will run and ALT+SPACE works as expected.

  • If powertoys starts at startup I don't have powerlauncher.exe running
    -- If I turn off and back on PowerToys Run from the PowerToys interface it does run powerlauncher.exe

  • If I open a running non-administrative powertoys and click 'restart as adminstrator' powerlauncher.exe disappears (if it was running) and doesn't come back.

  • Running powerlauncher.exe separately either as admin or non-admin works fine.

    Running powertoys 0.29.3 and .NET Core is up to date

would it be acceptable for you to installed an unsigned private build? (with extended logging to try to figure out why PowerLauncher.exe doesn't start as it is supposed to do)

@enricogior Absolutely fine by me.

@enricogior I was just looking at raising a separate issue that PowerToys doesn't start as admin on my system when I see both
#5863 #8664.

I suspect this is the same issue. My main account isn't administrator so when I restart as admin I am prompted for an alternate user login, I expect that powerlauncher.exe isn't launching for this reason.

I've just made my main account admin so I'll test that now.

Another reason for it not working maybe could be that it is a Preview Version all the other things work in PowerToys except PowerRun

@Ibrahim-19 @PaddyMack

I've prepared the private build: PowerToysSetup-0.0.1-x64-unsigned.zip

  • uninstall PowerToys (it will not delete your settings)
  • install the unsigned build
  • verify that PowerToys is running
  • wait 4-5 seconds and then try to open PowerToys Run (if it doesn't open the first time, wait a few seconds and try again)
  • if PowerToys Run doesn't work, open the command prompt and run "%PROGRAMFILES%\PowerToys\Tools\BugReportTool.exe" (the double quotes are important)
    That will create a zip file on your desktop named like this PowerToysReport_2021-01-04-12-02-08.zip
    You can drag and drop it in a GitHub comment.

Be aware that this private build version 0.0.1, doesn't support auto update, so after using it for this test, it's recommended to uninstall it and reinstall 0.29.3 https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases/download/v0.29.3/PowerToysSetup-0.29.3-x64.exe
