The software should report to the user that "xmlnotepad.settings" is set to "read-only" if it is so. Now the software does not report, does not save - this could cause confusion....

I pushed a fix for this, it will show up in the next version (2.9.0.14). When it tries to save settings, if it fails you will be notified like this, it will be up to you to figure out what you want to do to fix it, but at least you will know the save did not work as expected.
