Welcome to the infinitas-for-linux wiki!

This wiki page serves as a guide for running beatmania IIDX INFINITAS on Linux. Also, this is still under construction.

What is this script?

This is a script meant for managing and launching beatmania IIDX INFINITAS: A Japanese subscription-based (ugh) rhythm game for PC developed by KONAMI, and based on their already successful arcade franchise of the same name, using Wine.

Why beatmania IIDX INFINITAS specifically?

I wanted to get this particular game running on Linux since I've been dying to play it. That was the intention of this "project". Of course, I've been having thoughts about incorporating other Konaste games into this script to make installing and playing such games easier.

Why need a whole script for this? Why can't I just install the game normally through Wine?

If you're wondering why there needs to be a whole script for this game, this script needs to:

  • Be able to "install" the game
  • Open the launch page for IIDX INFINITAS in your browser (don't ask me why they do that)
  • Start the game launcher when a login URI is passed to the script
  • Create a virtual output so you can actually hear the music (and your inaccuracy)

Oh, and when I mean "install", I actually mean just extract the files directly from the INFINITAS installer, and throw them into a Wineprefix. Running the installer normally doesn't want to work properly under Wine, regardless of what settings you choose, what Wine builds you run the installer with, nor using utilities like Bottles/Lutris, IT JUST DOESN'T WANT TO WORK. Thanks for making it way harder than it should, konmai.

Special thanks
