All users are invited to sit on the Strategy Board to engage with each other and jointly decide on the following:

  • Determine the strategic direction of moja global and its tools. Immediate user influence on the strategic direction uses user feedback to create a joint vision. Annually, the Strategy Board will develop a Strategic Plan for moja global and its tools.
  • The Board members will try to find support to implement the strategic plan. Most of the contributions are in kind (e.g. A country wants to develop a new soil module, so it will allocate a few scientist and a coder to the project. Other users will do the same. Jointly the project is implemented without cash.) But there are some necessary cash costs to keep moja global running. These are covered by voluntary contributions from users. The details can be found in the document: moja global: who Pays?
  • Finally, the Strategy Board approves expenditure. The minutes of the Board Meeting provide the official permission to the Linux Foundation to release the approved expenditure against submitted invoices.

The Strategy Board is established by the moja global Charter under the Linux Foundation.

The Strategy Board meets quarterly, attendance at meetings of the Strategy Board shall be limited to the members of the Strategy Board, invited guests (by the Chair of the Strategy Board) and Linux Foundation personnel. The Agenda and Minutes for each meeting are public (as decided by the Strategy Board).

To join the Strategy Board, an organisation only needs to be a user of moja global tools. There are no contracts, only a participation agreement i.e. a 1-page document that states that the person on the board will be representing a specific entity (Ministry, organisation, company...) and will abide by the rules of the Charter. There are participation agreements for non-funding and funding organizations. You can copy these documents to complete them in Google Docs or you can download the documents into MS Word or PDF.
