Backpack sharing: Quick copy change #784
Comments
@emgollie How to they share to twitter, g+ and fb then? What's the userflow? |
The user flow wouldn't change--it's just that those social network names would need to be at least capitalized (alternate wording would be "Share this on Twitter, Google+ and Facebook"). I thought "Share this collection on your social networks" might be an easier read. @stenington, let us know your thoughts on making the copy edit. Thanks! |
Aw I see. The initial suggestion is fine by me if that works for @stenington |
I think the point behind specifically mentioning them is that they're not loaded until you click that link, meaning you aren't tracked until you click that link. If it just says "social networks" you have to click the link to find out which social networks, at which point they can all track you. Of course my gut feeling is that people who don't like social sharing widgets because of tracking concerns don't like any social sharing widgets, so making that copy change is probably fine. Another bigger change to consider now that we have a setttings page is to add a user setting to not load sharing widgets unless asked to, or even just to turn them off altogether. I think we should try to find an example user who would want that sort of feature and talk to them to figure out the details. Maybe the guys behind Mozilla's SocialShare would have some ideas for us in that regard. |
Got it, thanks @stenington. Can we at least have the proper names for the networks: "Share this on Twitter, Google+ and Facebook"? I'll look into the SocialShare folks--wondering how many people would prefer the option you mention. |
Is it possible to swap in proper names and capitalization for the networks: "Share this on Twitter, Google+ and Facebook"? Thanks! |
@emgollie adding this to the backlog, we'll take care of it soon. (probably the week of the all-hands) |
Copy fix on portfolio 'Share this...' link. Re: GH-784
When sharing a collection (from My Collections > share button), can we change the current hyperlinked copy to
Share this collection on your social networks
