@capsulecorplab capsulecorplab changed the title maximize volume availabe for grow medium separate planter into bottomless planter + buoy Oct 31, 2024
- replace planter.scad w/ bottomless-planter.scad & buoy.scad
  - redesign water injection port
  - refactor global variables and helper functions
- redesign wicking plate (with support beams) to accommodate planter redesign
@capsulecorplab capsulecorplab force-pushed the maximize-volume-available-for-grow-medium branch from 24a56e2 to 16a0373 Compare October 31, 2024 06:15
- temporarily set scale_factor to 0.2
- increase overhang angle to 60 deg
- decrease wicking chamber diameter to 20 mm
- increase wicking chamber diameter to 120 mm
- implement new drain mesh in buoy using experimental honeycomb generator
- fix rendering issues with water injection port at small scale
…small scale

- temporarily set scale factor to 0.5
- refactor h_buoy to be global variable
- fix water_injection_port() function in buoy to render properly at small scales

0.5x scale test print and buoyancy test
PXL_20241103_001743190~2

- replace old drain mesh function w/ honeycomb generator
- add wall clearance to base to allow for clearance fit with buoy
- adjust chamfer to account for 60 deg overhang
- add cavity for water injection port
as placeholder for full-scale model
as it's currently used to model the drain pipe
as to remove the need for drain mesh geometry in buoy
as it seems to have no effect and prints just fine at 30 mm/s for 0.2 mm layer height
as default speed for PLA from prusa slicer prints just fine
increases diameter of wicking chamber base to 1/5th planter diameter (~50 mm at full scale)
as to reduce stringing without crashing
