- You can copy any youtube video link and enter it into the search bar to automatically start playing the audio.
- You can also install it as an app, after which the app will start showing in the share menu whenever you share something, you can share any youtube link into it and it will play it.
- While you can continue to use ytify without even touching the Library, but for a more personal experience it is recommended.
- ytify is built from the very start to use the lowest amount of bandwidth possible, it can play audio on very slow internet speeds.
- You can even turn off all thumbnails in settings, which saves bandwidth and speeds up the experience.
- Use the Queue for smoother playback experience. (next audio in queue's playback data is prefetched while your listening to the current audio, minimizing any loading process)
- Whatever you listen to gets saved to History (in Library).
- Have you seen the list of videos that appear below every youtube video you are watching? These are known as recommended videos and ytify stores them and showcases a subset of them to you in 'Discover'.
- You can turn off storing history & discoveries in settings for a more clean slate experience.
- When you click on a 3 dot button of a stream, it opens up a menu of actions you can take on the stream
- One of those actions is Add To, which lets you add that stream to a list of your choice.
- We call playlists in ytify as collections. This is done to distinguish between youtube's own playlists.
- If you subscribe to a youtube playlist it remains a playlist, you cannot modify anything in it other than unsubscribe.
- If you import a youtube playlist it becomes a ytify collection, you can rename it, remove and add streams to it freely.
- There are some pre-existing collections that cannot be deleted, these are History, Discover, Favorites and Listen Later.
- Listen Later is like bookmarks but for streams you want to listen to, just not right now.
- The entire library is stored in your browser data using Local Storage. A usual library is around 1MB in size. You should always take a backup of this data through the available export button.
- IOS users are recommended to turn on HTTP Live Streaming for compatibility reasons.
- If you face a blank screen bug and you don't want to clear your library data, you may open https://ytify.netlify.app?reset which will reset everything but the library.
