Feature request: Import/export an opml file through the command line

I would like to automate my nextcloud installation and handle my subscriptions in code. Is there a way to import/export opml files using the occ tool? Or perhaps an option to subscribe to a single feed via the command line? If not, should I turn this issue into a feature request?

A similar question, what entry should I place manually in the db if I were to "emulate" a command that adds a single feed?

This feature would be extremely helpful to 32-bit users now that the News app simply no longer works. It would need to be possible for those with a deactivates News app.

If the app is deactivated the commands are also not available.

So unfortunately if you deactivate news or its stuck in the update due to the bug in the sever you can't use any news commands. Same for other apps.

Right, the problem is the News app just no longer works for everyone running 32-bit architecture as of the 1.6.0 regular update. They are all now 100% left behind.

I know and it's unfortunate and I knew before that many users will be affected.

News is quite old as you might know, it has gone through multiple stages and hands.

Since I became maintainer and took over the release process and lots of communication (occasionally coding a fix in the backend) we have changed a lot and it wasn't easy.

Just to name a few

• replaced the RSS parser library that was no longer maintained (took a couple of releases to get it working)
• updated the app for many nextcloud releases
• refactored the backend code
• replaced hardcoded SQL queries
• added some requested features

All of these things are not easy to do and require basically expert knowledge.
If this was a commercial project I would hire a Product owner, making the critical decisions and driving news forward
A solution architect that creates reasonable solutions out of user wishes or the ideas of the PO
One senior developer for the backend
One senior developer for the front-end
And a couple of juniors 1-3 maybe

And they would work a couple of hours a day on news at least maybe with other projects and different priorities

And unfortunately there are not many people that have lots of time and the knowledge for this kind of stuff.

And mental health is an important factor in this, if I would get to stressed by all the complains I would maybe introduce buggy code into the project or give up entirely and go silent.
Has happend to other projects before we wouldn't be the first and not the last.

Anyway you can find via the search a closed issue or multiple regarding this and you can try to revert the news version, scripts were posted by users.

Maybe you can also disable the updates for news and force enable it, it should keep working for a while.

Also the 32bit issue won't be the last issue, the UI is super old, web development is fast.
The code is basically getting more and more deprecated.

Unfortunately nobody had the time and skill to upgrade it so far.

And the nextcloud sever plus browser updates will sooner or later render the news web ui useless. At that point I will probably remove the UI and convert news into an API only app, so that I can at least provide a new version.

I know it's frustrating but there is not much I can do about this, we have no money to pay other and even when there were offerings of a 100$ nobody was found for some highly wished features.

So yea I'm sorry ...
Maybe one day the API will change and use etags instead of a super long integer to do the sync with the clients and maybe then we can add 32 bit support again...
