Dear nsidc,
I found your tool for Jira-ticket transfer to GitHub and extended it to (a) allow to transfer many tickets at once and (b) comments to some extend. I also removed user inputs and switched to command line parameters which allow to scripts things. Maybe my changes are interesting for you, so please feel free to copy what you like.
Also I separated the steps reading, converting and writing in separate "filters" and used a pipe-and-filter pattern to realize the tool.
