I'd love to see a Code of Conduct instituted for NSQ. Go is adopting one and we could use that. The Geek Feminism wiki has examples of other good Codes of Conduct.

It would be great to have the Code of Conduct added to the README and website, to govern conduct on IRC, the mailing list, and the issue tracker.

I know I only sporadically contribute to NSQ, but this would help me feel much better about my contributions and would enable future contributions, from me and others.

This is a great idea @paddyforan, I like the direction the Go thread is headed so we'll probably follow that lead.

FWIW, the TODO Group's code of conduct was seen by many as inadequate (and even actively harmful), and criticized for seemingly ignoring the prior work done in this area (such as the Contributor Covenant mentioned above) by people actually representing the marginalized groups most in need of the protections provided by such a CoC.

The TODO Group also "paused" work on their CoC back in August.

@mccutchen thanks!

Unless anyone else would like to weigh in, I'm going to propose we add the Contributor Covenant as part of our next stable release.

Thanks @paddyforan for kickstarting the conversation.

ditto. thanks @mccutchen!

@mreiferson I support that, and think it's the right next step.
