Think we've missed an icon? First search here to check your application hasn't already been covered. It's possible that it just hasn't landed in an update yet. Still missing? Damn! File a request using the relevant template here. When filing your request please be respectful, patient, and remember that development is done solely by volunteers.

Unthemed Icons

So you're seeing icons which aren't themed on your desktop but they are in Numix? There are 2 reasons why this might be the case.

Hardcoded Icons

We all make mistakes and developers are no exception. Sometimes they write programs in such a way that the icon cannot be themed even if an icon theme has the relevant icon; this is called hardcoding the icon. To deal with hardcoded application icons Numix uses the hardcode-fixer script. A list of the applications supported by the script can be found here.

Invalid Icon Names

Another mistake developers sometimes make is creating an icon with an invalid name. When picking a name for an icon you cannot use non-ASCII characters, spaces, or commas. Because of this if we get a request for an icon which has any of those things we cannot fulfil it. If we try to include an icon with invalid characters we get an error like this. Here's a list of such icons that have been requested to Numix:

  • 56B4_Battle.net Launcher.0.svg
  • 5C12_World of Warcraft Launcher.0.svg
  • Angry Birds-chrome.angrybirds.com.svg
  • Amazon Cloud Reader-read.amazon.com.svg
  • Google Calendar-google.com.svg
  • Google docs-docs.google.com.svg
  • Google News-news.google.com.svg
  • Yahoo Mail-mail.yahoo.com.svg

Android Apps

When we had Android icon themes active on the Google Play Store and F-Droid these came with an in-app reporting system which sent us the information we needed automatically. As that system is no longer operations please click here to submit Android requests.

Video Tutorials

In the days before GitHub templates we had video tutorials to walk people through creating an issue. The information they provide is now largely obsolete but are mentioned here for archiving purposes.
