#4462 might need to be backported as well.

If TMPDIR is set to something else than /tmp, it is not mounted, which can be blocking for some programs.

They were referring to the `version` variable already anyway, so I guess there is no point in keeping them locked to the very obsolete 1.2: you'll probably prefer to use the bootstrap scripts if yiy are in this case anyway?

thanks for the 2.0.8 release -- I updated the FreeBSD port to 2.0.8, which went smoothly (a pkg install ocaml-opam will install the binary package of 2.0.8, built on the FreeBSD package builders). Maybe you want to inform package maintainers of other distributions to update their opam package (see https://repology.org/project/opam/versions).

The opam package in Arch Linux is now at 2.0.8.

It's also possible to flag a package as out-of-date on this page, just in case the opam package should ever have a different maintainer, if you're thinking of automating the ping.

Thanks for the ping. I've updated opam in Debian (which, fwiw, will freeze very soon). Fortunately, 2.0.8 will be part of the next stable release.
