OCR Text Feature

Description

This is a feature known as Transcriptions or Text search provided in Paella Player, by which user can look up for the text extracted from the segments and select the and navigate to specific segment of the video.

Requirements

• Opencast 15 or higher
• Opencast Text Extraction feature (more info)
• ILIAS 8
• Plugin branch release_8, version 8.1.1 or higher

Admins can find the configuration to enable or disable this feature under:

OpenCast plugin configuration > Player > Enable OCT Text feature

Overview

Publication Usage:

This feature introduces a new publication feature called "MPEG7 Catalog" that is responsible for reading the extracted segment texts from Opencast.

NOTE: this publication usage has to be correctly configured in order for this feature to work!

Publication parameters (default):

• Channel: engage-player
• Type: Metadata
• Flavor: mpeg-7/text
• Mediatype: text/xml

Usage

By opening a video that has its texts processed and extracted by Opencast, you would see a new option in the Paella Player under:

Settings > Transcriptions
