Feature Request

We should investigate which (if any) of our images can use ubi-micro to replace ubi-8.
Why? Thinner base images mean less security exposure, and less frequent need to rebuild our images.

Initial investigation from @tlwu2013 looks promising.

Next steps:

  1. build a testing base image using ubi-micro
  2. manual smoke tests
  3. run through CI (does this occur for rebuild jobs anyway?)

If we cannot switch to ubi-micro, please reopen #5745
