Commit 564b6fc introduced calls to strings.Cut, added in Go 1.18. The fuzz testing also requires 1.18 but that will at least not affect users of the module. Also updating the CI configuration to actually test the Go version we claim to support.

LGTM :) I just wonder if it would make sense to update everything to the two latest Go LTS releases. The latest two releases are Go 1.20 and 1.21. We should maybe up date everything to the two latest releases and cut a new release for it. |

I think libraries like this shouldn't be too opinionated about what compiler their dependees use. Totally fine to require 1.18 or even 1.21 if the code actually needs it, of course. |

Commit 564b6fc introduced calls to strings.Cut, added in Go 1.18, so updating go.mod accordingly. The fuzz testing also requires 1.18 but that will at least not affect users of the module. Also updating the CI configuration to actually test the Go version we claim to support.
