Focusing components inside dialogs is not consistent across various operating systems and window managers. Overriding the selectInitialValue method of JOptionPane should disable the behaviour that automatically puts the focus on the OK button of a dialog window.

Focusing components inside dialogs is not consistent across various
operating systems and window managers. Overriding the selectInitialValue
method of JOptionPane should disable the behaviour that automatically
puts the focus on the OK button of a dialog window.
I've tested this on Windows 7, MacOS 10.10 and Ubuntu 15.10.
