I want to know why an extra level is included when using expand_grid and a dictionary?

Minimal reproducible example

data = {"x": [1, 2, 3], "y": [1, 2]}
expand_grid(others=data)

Actual behavior

   x  y
   0  0
0  1  1
1  1  2
2  2  1
3  2  2
4  3  1
5  3  2

Expected behavior

   x  y
0  1  1
1  1  2
2  2  1
3  2  2
4  3  1
5  3  2
