Valetudo RE 0.10.10

This is a routine update for 0.10 RE release, verified on S55 (fw 2034).
Highlights this time:

  • Those who use the newer versions of Home Assistant will notice that it'll stop complaining about "invalid" device name of the vacuum.
    The name was changed from being the same as the base Identifier (default: rockrobo) and now can be freely configured (default: vacuum) either in web UI or by editing valetudo's configuration directly;
  • Moreover, all the MQTT configuration changes made in web UI now should be applied on the fly (as before some changes required restarting valetudo to take effect, and now I hope it shouldn't be the case anymore);
  • @nnttd has translated the UI into Traditional Chinese, and thanks to that valetudo RE now supports 16 different languages!

Also a few dependencies were updated, but that shouldn't change much for anyone. Otherwise it's the same 0.10.8 release, so basically if you're not using MQTT or speaking Traditional Chinese then there's almost no reason for you to update to 0.10.10 as everything else will be the same.
For all other notes also please refer to the description of 0.10.8 release.

This is a routine update for 0.10 RE release, verified on S55 (fw 2034).

Basically the only difference from 0.10.8 here is that now coordinates shown by double tapping the map are hopefully correct and not rubbish like before. Also I've updated a few dependencies, but that shouldn't change much.

In other words, if you still keep 0.10.8 and are not interested in getting proper coordinates from the map (for using them later in some other application), there's almost no reason to update to 0.10.9 as everything else will be the same.

For all other notes also please refer to the description of 0.10.8 release.

Valetudo RE 0.10.8 Pre-release
Pre-release

How are you doing? This is the service update for 0.10 RE release, verified on S55 (fw 2034).
Changes in this version:

  • Expected cleaning direction in a zone is now shown on the map with the arrows sign;
  • Updated "go_to" and "zoned_cleanup" MQTT commands to allow specifying their targets directly with coordinates (predefined zones or spots aren't mandatory anymore);
  • Added "remote_control" MQTT command (and its REST API synonym) to automate manual remote controlling the device. With this you can send a sequence of such commands for the device to automatically chain them, and it will automatically start and end manual control mode when required;
  • Double tap on the map will now show coordinates of tapped position;
  • Node.js updated to 16.16 and some dependencies were updated too.

Note that Node.js 16 binary this time is a default build from pkg-fetch repo. This primarily means that it is rather big compared to my previous custom Node.js 12 builds and there's a chance that some CPU optimizations are not enabled here. While it doesn't sound awesome, but still you'll hardly notice any substantial differences I believe.

This release includes a pre-build image for Gen2 based on firmware version 2034 and an image for Gen1 based on firmware version 4028. Both are built by vacuumz image builder and use password "cleaner" for root login at SSH by default. You are advised to change it right after install - you know it for sure.

If you already have a previous release installed, you can install only RE update using a deb file (for gen1) or via this guide (for gen2 and 3).

Compare
Choose a tag to compare

This is the next release of RE version, verified on S55 (fw 2020).
A few notable changes in this release:

  • Implemented optional https support in the Web UI by @jneuhauser (see deployment section for initial instructions);
  • Added "last_bin_out" parameter to MQTT attributes containing the date when dustbin was pulled the last time (due to internal limitations can't properly detect consequent or offline purges);
  • Changed "get_destinations" MQTT command to include location coordinates or IDs in addition to their plain names;
  • Allowed to specify in MQTT commands where the device should go after the cleaning to be started will finish;
  • Allowed to play sounds via MQTT command from remote locations when sox is installed;
  • Added Czech translation by @thekarinka;
  • Updates to Spanish and Catalan locales;
  • Different bugfixes.

Update:
This valetudo RE version uses mqtt library v4.2.4 that may cause mqtt connection issues on some configurations. On 2020.12.01 there was uploaded fixed version of valetudo binary (valetudo-mqtt-fix.tar.gz) with mqtt updated to v4.2.6, which you may use if you found that you can't connect your device to your mqtt broker - just replace an old binary with a new one.
