License Page

The license page contains a brief summary of the GNU Lesser General Public License v3, this is generally referred to as a copyleft license. Additionally, a TL;DR summary of the license is prepended at the top.

This license MUST be agreed to during an install or upgrade.

Mode Page

Active Mode

  • Active Mode is the best performing install choice. It requires admin rights for the install, and installs to the %ProgramFiles% folder. Active Mode uses Image File Execution Options to replace selected Microsoft Edge Builds and acts before Microsoft Edge would run.

Service Mode

  • Service Mode is the default install choice. It does not require admin rights, and only installs to your %localappdata% folder. Service Mode scans for new Microsoft Edge processes and acts only after Microsoft Edge runs. In Service Mode, the application has a system tray icon.

The system tray icon can be hidden by various means. Selecting Hide MSEdge Redirect Icon from Tray during the install will hide the icon by default. Additionally, choosing Hide Icon from the Tray Menu will hide it until the app is relaunched.

Settings Page

Active Mode Options

  • This option allows you to limit which Microsoft Edge Builds are affected by Active Mode. Edge Stable, Beta, Dev, and Canary are available to be selected.

Service Mode Options

Hide Service Mode from Tray

  • This option hides the icon from the system tray.

Start Service Mode with Windows

  • This option adds a shortcut to MSEdgeRedirect in the user startup folder to have the application start with Windows.

Windows Store 'Apps'

  • This option converts web apps from the Windows Store to their actual web pages in the browser. Any app that states "This app requires the latest version of Microsoft Edge" is a web app and will be de-embedded if this option is selected. An example of this is the Wikipedia app.

PDF Handler

  • This option redirects PDFs to a seperate application if selected. This will not affect the default PDF handler, only PDFs that attempt to open in Microsoft Edge.

Bing Search

  • This option swaps Bing.com, which is the default Windows Search Engine, to one of your choosing. Options include Ask, Baidu, Custom, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, Google, Sogou, Yahoo, and Yandex. The default, if chosen, is Google.

MSN Weather

  • This option swaps MSN.com, which is the default Windows Weather Provider, to one of your choosing. Options include AccuWeather, DarkSky, Weather.com, Weather.gov, Windy, WUnderground, Ventusky, and Yandex. The default, if chosen, is Weather.com.
