Currently there is no way for new and smaller communication providers to prevail against established services retaining the majority of user. Interconnectivity facilitates market entry. The key for the establishment of new contacts is not any more the membership to a certain communication app (with the majority of users) but the correspondence of contextual characteristics like location, interests etc..This helps to overcome the domination of established communications providers on the market.
