Welcome to the 2022 guide for the Dalamud Discord Bridge.

Follow these simple and easy-to-understand steps to set up the bridge between Discord and Dalamud.

Thank You!

1. Create Discord application

Please head over to the Discord developers interface and log in with your discord account.
Then, click on "New Application".
Enter a name for your new bot. This can be anything.

Click "Create".

2. Create Discord bot

On the page of your new Discord application, click on "Bot" in the left sidebar.
On the upcoming page, click on "Add Bot". Then, click on "Yes, do it!".

Discord might complain that too many users already have the same username. In this case, you have to get more creative choosing the name for your application.

3. Note your TOKEN

On the same page, click on the blue "Click to reveal token" link.
Then, click on "Copy".
Paste the token you just copied into notepad keep track of it.

Token location

Please take special care: You should never share this secret information with anybody you don't fully trust.

4. Grant the bot Message Intents

Starting September 2022, Discord no longer allows bots to read messages by default. You must explicitly grant the bot permission to see messages on your server.

5. Install the software

In your FFXIV game, please enter the /xlplugins command into the chat window.
A window should appear, showing many plugins for you to choose from.
Please click on the "Dalamud Discord Bridge" plugin and then click "Install".

If you receive an error message or cannot install the plugin, please refer to our support staff in our Discord server.

6. Set-Up the plugin

In in-game chat, please enter /pdiscord.
Paste the previously acquired TOKEN into the respective field.
Please enter your Discord username into the respective field, in the format username#1234.

Click "Save". After a few seconds, the "Status" message should turn green, indicating that everything connected properly.
Click the newly appeared "Join my server" button. A browser window should appear, allowing you to choose a Discord server to use the plugin with.
We recommend creating a new Discord server for this purpose.

Good job! The plugin is now ready to receive messages to and from Discord.

7. Set-Up chat channels

In your discord server, type xl!help to see a list of available commands.

Using the xl!setchannel command will indicate to the plugin that this channel should be used to receive chat messages.
You can use the xl!setchannel any command which will turn all regular chat kinds on for this channel.
Immediately, you will see a list of kinds you just enabled. With xl!unsetchannel, you can then selectively turn off kinds that you do not wish to receive, like shout chat.

You can set up as many channels as you wish on as many servers as you wish. Only you will be able to change these settings.

You can find a list of available chat channels here

8. Set up Duty Finder notifications

The plugin can notify you about Duty Finder finishing its search for a duty.
To enable this feature in a given channel, type xl!toggledf command. To turn it off, run the command again.

9. Set up prefixes

To personalize your experience, you can set prefixes for specific chat kinds.

For example, running the command xl!setprefix e 🥁 will cause all Echo messages to show up with the 🥁 emoji.
You can use this to increase the visibility of incoming messages.

Great job!
