Welcome to the chariot wiki!

Take a look at the pages here for full documentation and instructions on how to use ChARIoT.

ChARIoT was inspired by the LITATLAS project from Victoria University of Wellington. With the LITATLAS app, users can create found poetry from augmented reality scenes found along the Wellington Writers Walk in Wellington, New Zealand.

I wanted to create an open source framework that would draw people back out of the AR setting and into their physical environments by creating a link between digital user interaction and real-world reactions.

The result was Project ChARIoT. ChARIoT is a combination of augmented reality (AR) and internet of things (IoT) technology that allows users to set up user interfaces in AR to control an Arduino via Bluetooth. In other words, users can create an augmented reality setting that acts as a user interface for the control of real-world objects.

Check back to this wiki for future work, as this project is still being developed and explored.

The pages in the sidebar include detailed step-by-step instructions for each component of the project. Minimum experience/prior knowledge is required in order to make ChARIoT work for you!
