Added support for armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabi/musleabi #63107

Thanks for the PR! I think it's fine to add this target to the compiler, but unfortunately we don't have CI budget to create a whole new compiler for this target. We may be able to fit it on CI but for now I think even that is sort of bursting at the seams (especially for the overflowing amount of ARM targets supported). Perhaps this could be added to the compiler for now and the CI bits can be considered separately? |
So I should split this into two 2 PR then? One just with the target files and the second one with the CI changes? Regarding the CI, is it too much to build the compiler itself ( |
Building the whole compiler is definitely too far for now unfortunately. Building just |
…-musleabi. Support for the targets in the compiler and std build in the CI.
Moved only the std build to I tested the musl binaries and everything seems in order. For the gnu ones i checked the binar generate and it is softfloat ABI and doesn't contain any operations touching VFP registers. |
@bors: r+ Looks good to me, thanks! |

Added support for armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabi/musleabi Fixes rust-lang#63101 Some things that are not done and I hope someone can help me with: * During the ci build of `armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabi` `openssl` must be built (to build cargo) but `openssl` does not yet support this target. This feels slightly like a chicken-and-egg problem, any feedback is welcome. * Should I add any tests for any of these targets?
Rollup of 7 pull requests Successful merges: - #63107 (Added support for armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabi/musleabi) - #63121 (On `format!()` arg count mismatch provide extra info) - #63196 (build_helper: try less confusing method names) - #63206 (remove unsupported test case) - #63208 (Round generator sizes to a multiple of their alignment) - #63212 (Pretty print attributes in `print_arg`) - #63215 (Clarify semantics of mem::zeroed) Failed merges: r? @ghost
☔ The latest upstream changes (presumably #63228) made this pull request unmergeable. Please resolve the merge conflicts. |
Is there anything in particular that I need to here? The commit seems to be in master, the pull request is closed, but bors seems to insist I should fix some merge conflicts? |
Oh nah that's just a bug in @bors, this is good to go! |
Pkgsrc changes: * Adapt to the move of the implementation of random numbers. * Remove patch which is no longer relevant (Signals.inc) * Cross-build currently fails due to the still unresolved rust-lang/rust#62558, so bootstrap kits for 1.38.0 have to be built natively, and will follow shortly. * Bump bootstrap requirements to 1.37.0 except for armv7-unknown-netbsd-eabihf which I've neither managed to cross-build nor build natively. Fixes #63101
Some things that are not done and I hope someone can help me with:
armv7-unknown-linux-gnueabi
openssl
must be built (to build cargo) butopenssl
does not yet support this target. This feels slightly like a chicken-and-egg problem, any feedback is welcome.
