To get started, first set all relevant environment config variables for
local/development and heroku/production environments. For local, add the
following code to the postactivate file in your virtual environment (if using
virtualenvwrapper, which you should be). If using plain virtualenv, add this
code to the end of that env's activate script:

    export SECRET_KEY='YOUR-SECRET-KEY'
    export AWS_STORAGE_BUCKET_NAME='YOUR-BUCKET_NAME'
    export AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID='YOUR-AWS-ACCESS-KEY'
    export AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY='YOUR-AWS-SECRET-KEY'

And for heroku, set the following config variables in your app (or you can set
these config variables directly in the heroku app's settings page at heroku.com):

    heroku config:set SECRET_KEY='YOUR-SECRET-KEY'
    heroku config:set AWS_STORAGE_BUCKET_NAME='YOUR-BUCKET_NAME'
    heroku config:set AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID='YOUR-AWS-ACCESS-KEY'
    heroku config:set AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY='YOUR-AWS-SECRET-KEY'
    heroku config:set EMAIL_HOST_PASSWORD='YOUR-EMAIL_PASSWORD'

If running locally (in development), make sure you've started the postgres
server, first:
    pg_ctl -D /usr/local/var/postgres -l logfile start
or something similar, depending on where your postgres is installed.

Make sure that your git remotes are named staging and production for the
relevant environments.
