ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2023) Ultimate Mode super laggy #3622

@temp399843 hello, G-Helper is not a driver, so it's not involved here anyhow. It looks like some Valorant + Nvidia GPU specific thing, especially considering that it happens only in one game and and only with mouse. Try to reset Nvidia Control panel settings to defaults. I remember in old times games had such thing as "hardware cursor" setting, where GPU would be involved in processing mouse controls as well. Do you have that by any chance in Valorant ? |

Thank you for the quick response! I reset all of the NVIDIA control panel settings back to default, but I don't think that made it any better, and I couldn't find the hardware cursor setting you were talking about. I took a video on my iphone and attached screenshots from it to this, because I can't attach the video. I filmed it in slow motion (240fps) so it would be easier to see what I am talking about. I can send it to you via email or something if you want to see it. In the video I am basically moving my mouse back and forth left and right, and the FPS data is also displayed in the top right hand corner. I don't have Vsync on, because when I turn it on I just get a lower frame rate and it doesn't look smooth. I also don't know much about computers so sorry if my questions aren't totally accurate, but what could this issue come from? I don't experience anything like this when playing Fortnite, but I also use a controller when I play that game so I guess it could be something with my mouse or something in the game. I am just curious, what does turning on Ultimate mode do? Is it the same as going into NVIDIA Control Panel and turning on "NVIDIA GPU Only"? Why does my computer have to restart? There isn't much of a reason why I am asking, I am just curious. |

Hey, I am just wondering. I took my laptop into a Best Buy and was sitting
in there for 3 hours and multiple people looked at my laptop and
didn't know what to do to fix it. I am getting to a point where I just have
no idea what to do and I don't know who to ask. Could you help me fix it? I
know this isn't related to G helper anymore so it isn't really your
responsibility, but I could use some help. If there is any way that I could
share my screen with you or anything to show you the issues im having? I
could send you money on Venmo too because I know this will take time away
from other things you could be doing.
Thank you

@temp399843 <https://github.com/temp399843> well, try other games with
mouse to pinpoint the problem source. If Fortnite works fine - then it's
something between Valorant and Nvidia I would say.
Ultimate mode does same as in Armoury, it toggles proprietary MUX switch
that Asus offers on your device. So internal display is driven directly by
Nvidia GPU (for a bit better latency and FPS)
But since your device also has Advanced Optimus, which is a similar thing
but from Nvidia itself. You can just keep it in Standard, and go to
Nvidia Control Panel and set Display Mode to Nvidia GPU only there (or
even Auto), and then Nvidia will also drive internal display in games.

Wow thank you, that actually completely fixed it. I'm surprised the Geek
Squad people didnt suggest for me to do that.
One final question, if I set up G sync in the Control Panel, and turn on V
sync in an application, then is it using G sync? I am just confused on
how I know that G sync is enabled.
But thank you so much for your help. I was about to pay $200 for a service
technician haha.

@temp399843 <https://github.com/temp399843> hello, I can't "fix" anything
without having your device. Since you literally tried to fix it in BestBuy
for 3 hours.
You can try general Troubleshooting steps, like doing a clean GPU driver
reinstall using DDU
<https://github.com/seerge/g-helper/wiki/Troubleshooting#reinstalling-gpu-drivers>.
It often helps.

I just downloaded Valorant yesterday, and I always put my computer into ultimate mode on Ghelper whenever I play games. If I move around with WASD in game it looks completely fine, but if I move my mouse around the screen tears SUPER heavily and even if I go to my desktop and move my cursor around it is also super glitchy and stuttery. It's not like it's just a lower frame rate; it will like skip around. The frame rate also doesn't drop. I have it enabled on Valorant so it displays my frame rate, and it stays steady at 130fps (I have it capped at 130). I also have Fortnite downloaded where I connect my Xbox controller and play it on Ultimate mode all the time just fine, its only when I move my mouse around. Today, I tried loading into Valorant with my computer in standard mode, and it worked perfect, but it just didn't stay steady at high frame rates like Ultimate mode does.
I don't think it matters, but I went into my logi options+ app and went through all the settings and no changes made any difference. I have already searched the web for similar issues with the mouse lag and I can't find anyone with the same issue. so I think it is more of a Ghelper-related issue.
