• The content directory holds all the main text content of the publication in a standard Markdown format.

• Customizations to the default theme will appear in the layout directory if one is present, as well as in the static/css/custom.css and static/js/custom.js files.

• The data directory holds information on the publication, as well as any figure images, bibliographic references, and objects; all in a YAML format.

• Figures are held in the static/img directory, typically in JPG, PNG, GIF or SVG formats.
