Totem is movie player for the GNOME desktop based on GStreamer.
It features a playlist, a full-screen mode, seek and volume controls,
as well as complete keyboard navigation.

Apart from a movie player, it also includes a video thumbnailer.

If you're wondering why I forked this, it's because apparently to change
some settings in this stupid video player, you need to modify the source code.
And here I am, wasting my time actually modifying it so I can change some
settings in my custom build.

The settings were going to be customisable, but the stupid GNOME devs didn't
accept the patch for some reason. God help the future of Ubuntu and GNOME.

Automatic GStreamer codec installation (optional)

- calls (via GStreamer) a predefined external helper script (which is to be
  installed by the distro and can be defined via gst-plugins-base's configure
  script when building gst-plugins-base) with details of missing GStreamer
