Who are we?
Pyronear is a volunteer project which started in 2019 about wildfire detection 🤗 It's based in France and is now a registered NGO which works with firefighter departments to develop affordable prototypes for early wildfire detection 🌲
Feel free to reach out on our website, GitHub, Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook!
What are we working on?
There are three main streams:
- 🗺️ prevention: anticipate wildfire hazards (e.g. risk score)
- 🚨 detection: notify firefighters as soon as a wildfire starts (e.g. deploy computer vision models, send secure alerts, monitor the situation)
- 🚒 intervention support: provide valuable information for intervention planning (e.g. propagation prediction)
Why sponsoring us?
The project is led and maintained by volunteers on their free time. It was designed to operate at minimal costs, but there are still some remaining! Here is what you'd be contributing to:
- ⚙️ Development Hardware: all the software tools that we develop are meant for seamless deployment on edge devices, namely Raspberry PI. That also includes the visual capture system 👁️
- ☁️ Cloud hosting: computation is done on edge devices, but the wildfire alert has to be sent to firefighters. That requires some cloud orchestration and some fees.
- 🏦 Bank account: since we work with public institutions, we need a bank account for billing. Firefighter departments only pay for the hardware and installation fees (transport), so we have to bill them those expenses.
