I've been blogging about programming off and on for almost 20 years covering such diverse languages as PHP, HTML, JavaScript, and D. My main focus has always been UI and UX whether I was talking about web-based HTML layouts or the GTK toolkit.
Now I'm on another adventure writing phone apps using the Godot Game Engine. My intent here is to share not just the apps, but also the source and how these apps were written. Along the way, I'll also be covering how to use Godot as an app-producing engine.
What I have so far is Simple Tools - Canadian Mortgage Calculator, my first Android phone app. In the works (as of this writing) is another Simple Tools app: Time Calculator. I wrote it as a way of knowing when I have to leave the house to get to a certain place by a certain time (with the amount of travelling time supplied by Google Maps).
Next on the list will be Simple Tools - Multi Cooking Timer. With this gadget, you can coordinate the cooking times for up to four different parts of a meal (a meat and three veg, for instance) so they're all ready at the same time. Features:
- give each timer a unique name (Steak, Potatoes, etc.)
- input come-to-boil time (or heat-the-frying-pan time or warm-up-the-oven time)
- each meal part can have a complete from burner-on to food-ready timeline consisting of three separate units:
- heat-the-pan time,
- cooking time, and
- cool-down time
- input the time of day you want it all ready (6:00 PM, for instance) and it'll tell you when to start the first meal part so everything is ready on time
So if any of this interests you—free apps, learn to code, or learn Godot—please feel free to sponsor my work.
Thank you.
