Bug Report

The bug was originally found in #10288.

Description

It's hard to describe the issue, reproduce steps should be eaiser to read.

Having an account with 2 paired devices, with a community it's admin in, the first message in channel is not received on second device after being going back to online.
But (I think I saw this) if both devices are online, the first message is received everywhere.

I'm pretty sure most of these details are not important here, but this is the way I faced it several times:

  • sending a user mention
  • being a community admin
  • the first device is mobile

Steps to reproduce

  1. Alice [mobile], Charlie: create new profile
  2. Alice [mobile]: create a new community "Doodles" with require to join option
  3. Charlie: send Doodles join request
  4. Alice [mobile]: accept Charlie's join request
    --
  5. Alice [mobile]: pair new desktop device
  6. Alice [desktop]: close the app
  7. Charlie: send 2-3 messages to #general channel in Doodles
  8. Alice [desktop]: start the app, log in, and check:
❌ Missing first Charlie's message in Doodles.

So, as it turned out, it has nothing to do with pairing/syncing.

This is a know limitation of status-go, I opened an issue:
status-im/status-go#3869
