After checking out the repo, make sure rails is vendored. We are using a submodule strategy in order to track rails. git submodule init git submodule update cd vendor/rails git checkout v2.3.2 Run migrations & load seed data cp config/database.yml.example config/database.yml rake db:migrate rake db:seed
