Can't use evil-escape keybind in Deft mode

I have this issue using stock spacemacs and emacs-snapshot on Ubuntu 14.04. Pushing f in Deft mode does nothing.

I have been meaning to try and fix this but haven't gotten around to it unfortunately

Can anyone using deft try to reproduce this issue? It's pretty old and in the cited PR it seems to have been fixed (or not 😛 )

Actually now pressing f causes double f-s being entered.

I can confirm @ageorgo's issue: I also get duplicated f's whenever I type f in deft.

fwiw, I commented out the line

(`deft-mode (call-interactively 'deft-filter-increment))

in ~/.emacs.d/elpa/evil-escape-20150926.2152/evil-escape.el

and that fixed the problem.
