GenerativeFaceCompletion_Windows

This repository presents the windows version of the Caffe for training and testing GenerativeFaceCompletion code (Yijunmaverick/GenerativeFaceCompletion)

Yijunmaverick presented the MatCaffe implementation of their paper at this repo. Their code can directly be run on linux after installing the Caffe version. The official Caffe version of windows is slightly different from the Caffe version used by FaceCompletion, so the windows version of Caffe can not be used directly to do Face completion experiments on windows platform.

This repository contains the modified version of windows-Caffe. One can clone the repo on their windows system and start doing experiments with GenerativeFaceCompletion.

You need to follow some weird steps:

1- Download and install the dependencies mentioned on original windows-Caffe repo. I am writing those steps here for convenience.

Requirements

  • Visual Studio 2013 or 2015
    • Technically only the VS C/C++ compiler is required (cl.exe)
  • CMake 3.4 or higher (Visual Studio and Ninja generators are supported)

Optional Dependencies

  • Python for the pycaffe interface. Anaconda Python 2.7 or 3.5 x64 (or Miniconda)
  • Matlab for the matcaffe interface.
  • CUDA 7.5 or 8.0 (use CUDA 8 if using Visual Studio 2015)
  • cuDNN v5
  • git

We assume that cmake.exe and python.exe are on your PATH.

Configuring and Building windows-Caffe First

If git is installed on your windows system then you can use execute the following command to clone the original windows-Caffe repo:

C:\> git clone https://github.com/BVLC/caffe.git
C:\> cd caffe
C:\caffe> git checkout windows
:: Edit any of the options inside build_win.cmd to suit your needs
C:\Projects\caffe> scripts\build_win.cmd

The build_win.cmd script will download the dependencies, create the Visual Studio project files (or the ninja build files) and build the Release configuration. By default all the required DLLs will be copied (or hard linked when possible) next to the consuming binaries. If you wish to disable this option, you can by changing the command line option -DCOPY_PREREQUISITES=0. The prebuilt libraries also provide a prependpath.bat batch script that can temporarily modify your PATH environment variable to make the required DLLs available.

If everything goes well by now, then you can proceed to the next step, which is downloading this repository in some other folder, and then copy files from this repository and replace the ones in your windows-Caffe repository. You might ask, why cant we directly download this repository and run build? Well you can .. but I would suggest to first download and build the original windows-Caffe on your system and check if everything works well with windows-Caffe, and then move on to this version of Caffe.
