Drop legacy implementation

Remove legacy client, repository/developer tool, command line tools, and underlying libraries and utilities. See docs/1.0.0-ANNOUNCEMENT.md for details about their replacement, deprecation strategy and migration instructions. Signed-off-by: Lukas Puehringer <lukas.puehringer@nyu.edu>
