Some lint issues which i think is due to mismatch in go mod. Fixing that it should be good to merge.

The build has been red for weeks. I don't feel comfortable green-lighting it.

This cannot be merged until issues with cert-manager are solved. It might be better to wait for a Design Doc on the future of the project than to invest development cycles into solving issues from this PR.
