Setting up a multiplayer game

So, you want to play with others and do it by hosting your table. Good!

I. Creating multiplayer table

  1. From main menu, click Multiplayer and then Host server.
  • Name you write in here shows up next to your table. There will be "X-Wing" written in the box next to it anyway (because we will load X-Wing table later), so you can use it for titles like "Casual 100pts", "New player here", "Teaching" and stuff.
  • Password is self explanatory.
  • Max players number does include you (host) and spectators. 99% of the time, number of connected players will not affect your performance. You can set it to two if you just want another player, but setting it higher so there can be spectators (even if they won't be playing on the other half of the table) is awesome. Introduces new players to X-Wing, lets them see it in works.
  • [cog button options] You should enable (or at least not disable) NAT - it lets people connect without proxy sometimes which usually means ~200ms lower latency.
  • [cog button options] Proxy, leave it at auto - it will choose the best (closest) for you automatically.
  1. Click Create Server. Setting we did in step 1. are persistent so next time you can just click it right away.
  2. In the window that popped up (if it didn't, click Games at the top), click Workshop tile and then choose "Unified X-Wing Mod".
  3. If you haven't ever done it, follow instructions on the TTS configuration and you page.

THIS PART REFERS TO YOUR SQUAD SETUP. SKIP TO SECTION II IF YOU'RE FAMILIAR.

  1. Click your name in the right upper corner, choose on of the playing colors (with a colored zone on the table).
  2. Quickplay guide should have taught you how to spawn an example squad. Use Squad Builder or Collection to assemble one now, refer to Doc: Squad Building page for specific instructions.
  3. Lay out game pieces on your playing area.
  4. Assign dials to your ship like in Quickplay guide, additional info at Doc: Automated dials.

II. Playing with another person

If you created the table like instructed above, chances are somone will join and announce he's up for a game. To speed it up, you may click Enter on your keyboard to open the chat, select Global tab and advertise here. Or do the same on Slack group, or your local Facebook/Steam/Whatever forum. People are often waiting for a game.
