When entering PIN/Passphrase user should see the entered letter/number/... for 1-2 seconds. Then it should change to *.

Trezor T
We want to make difference between character entered from keyboard and mask displayed afterwards on Passphrase screen.

Mask (asterisk) color is dimmed compared to just entered character. To see how the characters differ visually, check design Figma

Trezor Safe 5
Jfyi @bieleluk dots are used instead of asterisk on this model.
