FAQ: "The Sims 2 is not installed on this system" error

  1. Press Win+R on the keyboard. Type regedit.exe and press Enter.
  2. Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Maxis" and delete the key "The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection."
  3. Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\EA Games" and delete any keys with "The Sims 2" in the name.
  4. Run the Touchup Launcher (Even if you already did) and select the directory where you installed the game. The program will guide you as you continue.
  5. After this, the error should no longer appear.
